Sisterhood

The Sisterhood of Congregation Beth Am is an affiliate of Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ). The WRJ is an agency of the Union for Reform Judaism has long been dedicated to further WRJ’s program of service to Jewish and humanitarian causes.

At the local level, our Sisterhood promotes fellowship among its members and members of the larger Jewish community of Congregation Beth Am. Sisterhood is a mentor for religious, social and educational activities and cooperates with activities concerning the congregation.

Over the years we have supported Congregation Beth Am by raising funds that enabled us to purchase a second Torah, breastplate and Yad. We helped to fund the sanctuary’s sound system. We stock and manage the Judaica Shop; fund and manage the Justin P. Katz Israel Experience Scholarship Fund; send holiday gifts to our college students and hold monthly informative programs and support many special interest groups for the members of Congregation Beth Am.

At the heart of our Sisterhood are the shared goals of engagement in spirituality, a commitment to the creation of a vital Jewish community, and an advocacy to fulfill the spiritual mandate of tikkum olam. The power of women organizing to make a difference is limitless. Sisterhood’s affiliation with WRJ brings each voice together with other women worldwide-creating one unified message-stronger together.
